Monitoring, Testing & Analysis

Materials Conservation monitors situations to inform appropriate treatment recommendations, identify existing environmental conditions, real-time change rates, or the relative stability of conditions once a project is complete.

Testing pinpoints the severity of deterioration and other characteristics that inform treatment.

In the field, our team can examine the nature of an object and identify past repairs. In the lab, we can perform microscopy, spot testing, wet analysis, water vapor transmission, paint analysis and mortar analysis.

Careful analysis of the collected data and evidence found during testing establishes the basis for all future conservation actions.
