Written and photographic documentation is the foundation from which Materials Conservation builds a treatment plan, and ultimately solves conservation issues. The form and extent of documentation will vary according to the circumstances. We typically record every aspect of a project, photo-documenting before, during and after every treatment, providing the client with a visual history of treatments that can help inform future conservation work.

Where appropriate, we also create a physical record of the object by completing annotated measured drawings, gathering data by hand using tape measures or by ordering up 3-D laser scans.
