Darryl joined Materials Conservation as the jack-of-all-trades, assisting in the field, organizing and caring for the tool inventory, and maintaining order around the conservation studios. A quick study, he leveraged his on-the-job training into a full-time career.
Darryl’s skills, good humor, and just-say-yes attitude have infused Materials Conservation projects all across Philadelphia, including the Catholic Total Abstinence Fountain restoration, the City Hall conservation of Council Chambers, the preservation at the Rodin Museum, and masonry work at Eastern State Penitentiary.
Darryl’s appreciation for beautiful old buildings was fostered by his grandmother. As a child he spent hours helping her manage Lemon Hill, an historic Federal mansion in Fairmount Park. Nature, nurture? To Darryl, the answer is both.
